WHAT IS TEA

Camellia sinensis

Originally called Thea sinensis,

by Dr. Engelbert Kaempffer,

In 1712. The tea was renamed Camellia sinensis in 1753,

classified by Carl von Linnaeus. The term means "from China, in Latin.

Through different methods of cultivation,

handling and processing, among other factors,

six main types of tea are produced.


1. WHITE TEA (BÁI CHÁ)

2.GREEN TEA (LÜ CHÁ)

3. YELLOW TEA (HUANG CHÁ)

4. OOLONG TEA CHÁ AZUL (WU LÓNG CHÁ)

5. BLACK TEA CHÁ VERMELHO (HÓNG CHÁ)

6. DARK TEA

(HEI CHÁ)

7. ROOIBOS


(It is not from the Camellia sinensis plant,

but will enter No. 7 to complete the cycle of seven that is extremely auspicious.)

Of all the shrub or tree, the part used for the preparation of Special Teas,

is only a bud and one or two leaves, except for some types of Oolong,

that even use a bud and up to four young leaves, when soft.


There are three subspecies of Camellia sinensis .

1. Camellia sinensis sinensis - China

2. Camellia sinensis assamica - India

3. Camellia sinensis Lasio-calyx - Cambodia


WHAT IS TEA?

Tea is the name of a plant, the Camellia sinensis.

Tea is the second most consumed drink in the world.

But we should call Tea, only the drink that comes from Camellia sinensis,

because what is also popularly called tea, are infusions or herbal teas,

which are made from herbs. (This theme will give another book.
